A. Key Responsibilities

  1. PRODUCT, SERVICES & INNOVATION
  • Executes the EcoCash product development & services roadmap
  • Develops the EcoCash projects & handles information and knowledge management issues.
  • Work with design and engineering teams and vendors to develop innovative and breakthrough solutions.
  • Work with the vendor on designed products and specifications within acceptable timetables.
  • Works with operations, sales, customer care to derive key insights from customers and translate them into cutting edge, high quality products to internal and external customers.
  • Supports market intelligence efforts and propose product adjustments accordingly.
  • Support the management to make decision by extracting data from the database and providing reports in specific and customized formats.
  1. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP PLANNING & IMPLEMENTATION
  • Execute scheduled deployments of new products and features as well as enhancements on EcoCash.
  • Manages the interface dependencies with IS, Networks, VAS, TPS, Comviva and other vendors to identify resources required for the Product development project.
  • Liaises with EcoCash system vendors and other ecosystem players (for integrations) to ensure alignment of project tasks and activities
  • Manages and coordinates post implementation reviews whenever there are system enhancements and new products introduced
  • Prepares technical documents and architecture for new products and ideas for planning purposes.
  • Provide customized reports to sales team, operations team and direction for meeting and decision making.
  1. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & INTEGRATION, SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT
  • Undertakes Research on new technologies for mobile money and payments in general.
  • Spearheads integrations with banks, payment service providers, merchants, billers, agents; etc. to achieve interoperability on the EcoCash product.
  • Manages and refines initial designs by product development engineers; Delivers technical specifications and procedures to business & operations teams and reviews functional specification documents.
  • Represents Ecocash in technical and product meetings with external and internal stakeholders
  • Identifies and recommends solutions for issues affecting EcoCash features and services – and other systems and charts the best way to integrate with 3rd parties
  1. Education
  • 3 Advanced Level Passes
  • A Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Information Systems & Computer Science
  • A Professional qualification in related field is mandatory.
  1. Experience 

·                4-10 years’ work experience in the payments and financial services domain, of which 2 must have been at senior level within mobile financial services and banking;

·                Must have proven skills to facilitate all job requirements and have reference projects they have done.

·                Must have a sound knowledge of mobile money, VAS, technology, payment services and platforms;

·                Must have worked with Oracle and MySQL Databases with enough experience in SQL;

  • Database administration and Linux servers administration
  1. Skills
  • Product Development Officer is expected to have good communication skills for both oral and written communication.
  • Must be a strong leader and team player with interpersonal skills that allow him to work with cross-functional teams (business, designers, operations, finance and technical).
  • Needs to have experience in negotiations and management as well as being able to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
  • Must have a proven track record of delivering functional products and services.
  • Must be able to write SQL statements with multiple tables and other database objects for simple reports.
  • Must be able to write procedures, functions and packages to provide complex reports
  • Must be innovative, technical and a knowledge worker.
