Village Health Works (VHW) is a non profitable NGO based in Kigutu, Bururi Province whose mission is to provide quality, compassionate health care in a dignified environment while treating the root causes of illness, poverty, violence, and neglect in collaboration with those we serve. VHW’s approach integrates clinical services with education, food security, economic development, environmental protection, music and the arts. Currently VHW operates a comprehensive health center with a 50 -bed low acuity inpatient service. Our inpatient service provides basic adult and pediatric care, treatment of malnutrition, minor surgery cases and a TB isolation ward.
The main goal in the near future is for the facility to provide comprehensive medical care focusing on establishing surgical and obstetrical services in the region and developing the capacity to provide specialty clinical services not available in Burundi. Integral to the success of this project will be our ability for accurate data entry and analysis to enable timely decision making and future planning and expanding services.
Job Summary
Responsible for greeting incoming patients, distributing paperwork, entering in pertinent information into the EMR, including insurance and demographic, and handling the processing of insurance.
Primary Responsibilities
Handle inquiries and patient intake.
Ensure all papers are properly filled out and input into the EMR system.
Enter and verify that all patient demographics and billing information correctly entered/verified at time of check in.
Process encounters daily for and balance to co-payments.
Collect balances due at time of check in.
Direct patients to relevant areas of building.
Answer phones.
Assign patients to room.
Obtain signed statements.
Ensure all the departmental data in correctly entered and cleaned
Record payments.
Keep admission desk clean and organized.
The Clinical Data Entry Analyst is responsible for assisting with the build of patient charts in the EMR system.
The analyst uses the patient provided data and medical records health information to build the patients chart.
Tools include computers, clinical guidelines, available medical terminology references and members of the clinical team.
Synthesizing documents for data entry
Entering data into database software and checking to ensure the accuracy of the data
Resolving discrepancies in information and obtaining further information for incomplete documents
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

It is also beneficial that the Clinical Analyst have both a medical background and a familiarity with information systems

Qualifications
At least one year experience Basic typing and computer proficiency
Excellent customer service along with good verbal and written communication skills required.
Customer service experience in the medical field
Computer skills experience with MS Office, EMR systems
Flexibility with schedule; including day, evening, and weekend hours as needed
Experience with office equipment: multi-functional printer/copier multi-line phone system, calculator
Must have attention to detail, be able to multi-task and be accurate.
Requirements
Diploma in Information System, Statistics, Nurse or equivalent required.
3+ Years as a data collection and data management.
Critical Care experience preferred
Fluency in English is required and fluency in French and Kirundi is prefered
IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong team player
Adaptable and able to work in a multicultural team
Self-driven with a solution-orientated approach
