VACANCY – DATA WAREHOUSE SPECIALIST

A. Key Responsibilities

1. ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS

• Acts as the SPOC (single-point-of-contact) for all data related developments, queries and improvements for the company’s data warehouse
• Manages all follow up and implementation activities resulting from DGF (Data Governance Framework) actions
• Plays a bridge role (data stewardess) between business functions & IT department in terms of agreeing upon the business oriented definitions for KPI reporting
• Creates supporting documentation, such as metadata and diagrams of entity relationships, business processes, and process flow
• Reports data collection / quality / availability issues and track the progress that is taken by the responsible parties & report the progress to data governance forum
• Reports data compliance, quality and regular feeds
• Ensures all data uploads are completed as per scheduled time frames
• Communicates any deviations from expected data quality and data delivery in a timely fashion
• Updates KPI and other critical business data definitions as and when new products and promotions affect these metrics
• SPOC for all new data development and reporting requirements from the company

2. DATA QUALITY FUNCTIONS

• Conducts ongoing and pro-active investigations of data quality
• Identifies all data quality issues affecting reporting of KPI’s and critical business data as well as corrective action required (be that source system or commercial)
• Follows up and own the implementation of corrective action as per the above
• Owns the data files to be dumped daily & monthly and control daily if all files are dumped correctly through VPN connection

3. DATA MANAGEMENT

• Updates look up and dimension tables when required
• Updates queries with new dimension tables when required
• Updates ETL (extract, transform, load) to ensure correct extraction of all fact tables when changes on source systems occur or new source systems are introduced
• Identifies potential & existing problems regarding the automation, investigate and coordinate the solutions for the core reasons
• Coordinates, collect and upload the tables that are provided by different departments manually
• Compares KPI results with Operator reporting to make sure that nothing is missed / left out and investigate core reasons if there are differences
• Provides reconciliation requiring numbers (i.e. ACS revenue for EWB) that are not captured from the data dumps
• Checks if there are any threats regarding the processor capacity and track the enhancement of data servers if required
• Tracks the time of queries and potentially utilize for fastening the processes / run times
• Makes sure that data is shared by source system extractions

B. Education

• Degree in a Computer Related Field (Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, etc) or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience
• MBA or MBL will be an added advantage

C. Experience 

• Minimum 3 years of experience in an data warehouse or source system environment
• A detailed understanding of data warehouse systems and ETL processes
• Advanced SQL capabilities

D. Knowledge and Skills

• Quantitative and qualitative analytical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy under time pressure.
• Highly competent in the use of standards and specialised software applications
• Provision of web based (internet/intranet) solutions to meet information requirements
• Ability to deal with high volumes of data
• Excellent understanding of project management principles
• Keen attention to detail
• Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities

E. Required Systems

• Proficient in using computer software (e.g., ACL, SQL, Excel) and application systems
• Extensive knowledge of development tools e.g. NET (ASP.NET, VB.NET, C+ etc), Sql Server 2000/2005, web services and report writing and business intelligence tools
• Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server and Informix Database Administration, and Object-Oriented Design skills are a distinct advantage.
• UNIX, Linux and Windows Administration and support skills essential though not compulsory.

• Comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modelling.
• Extensive experience with BI application development tools and methods, specifically ETL tools and standard BI methodologies
