JOB DESCRIPTION – DONOR ENGAGEMENT&PARTNERSHIPS COORDINATOR

                                              

Location: Bujumbura-Burundi

Duration: 2 years (including 6 months’ trial period).

 

About Dreaming for Change and Position overview

Dreaming for Change (D4C) is a family-centered nonprofit organization based in Burundi that empowers disadvantaged children, families, and communities to overcome poverty, illness, and inequality. Guided by our mission to promote human dignity and social development, we provide integrated services in education, health and nutrition, agriculture and food security, entrepreneurship, and child protection. We operate a community school, a nutrition center serving hundreds of children each year, a community farm school promoting sustainable agriculture, and a financial empowerment program reaching women and girls through savings groups and small enterprise support.

We’re currently recruiting the Donor Engagement & Partnerships Coordinator to support the Executive Director in strengthening and maintaining relationships with donors, sponsors, and partner organizations.

 

Key Responsibilities


Donor Engagement & Sponsorship Communication

  • Serve as the main point of contact for individual sponsors, institutional donors, and funding partners;
  • Draft thank-you letters, donor updates, and impact stories highlighting D4C’s achievements;
  • Maintain an updated database of donors and sponsorship records, ensuring timely communication;
  • Work closely with the Digital Media & Communications Assistant to prepare newsletters, social media posts, short videos, and visual updates for sponsors and donors;
  • Support the organization of donor visits, events, and community celebrations, in collaboration with program teams.

Partnership & Collaboration

·       Support the Executive Director in identifying and nurturing new partnerships with local and international organizations.

·       Draft and follow up on partnership agreements (MoUs) and ensure correct documentation.

·       Coordinate communication between D4C and its implementing or strategic partners.

·       Represent D4C in external meetings or events only when delegated by the Executive Director.

 

Resource Mobilization Support

  • Assist in preparing concept notes, proposals, and donor reports under the leadership and guidance of the Executive Director;
  • Track ongoing donor commitments, reporting deadlines, and sponsorship obligations to ensure timely and accountable communication with supporters.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, development studies, business administration, or related field;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in donor communication, partnership coordination, or program support (preferably in an NGO;
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English and French;
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Basic understanding of proposal writing and donor reporting;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
