VACANCY – FINANCE MANAGER

A. Key Responsibilities

1. FINANCIAL REPORTING, TAX AND AUDIT
  • • Ensures the integrity of financial data processed in the accounting system
  • • Preparation of flash reports in line with group reporting requirements
  • • Prepares Company’s management accounts (monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annually) in line with group reporting and in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • • Reviews account reconciliations applicable to the mobile money business
  • • Prepares annual financial statements and statutory supporting schedules
  • • Prepares reports, schedules, and files for review by external and internal auditors
  • • Assists the Financial Controller in preparation of technical accounting papers on new accounting standards and/or specific transactions.
  • • Assist the financial controller in effective tax management for mobile financial services

2. FINANCIAL PLANNING AND CONTROL
  • • Prepares annual business plan in line with business strategic direction
  • • Prepares periodic financial forecasts to support financial decisions
  • • Reviews new products and services and provide performance reports
  • • Formulates performance standards and ensures that strategic objectives are pursued and achieved.
  • • Produces cost reports for cost containment and control
  • • Maintains the physical assets of the company
  • • Prepares product performance report of all available use cases

3. MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL OF MOBILE MONEY
  • • Ensures adherence to internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and trust funds.
  • • Perform specific partner and agent account reconciliations, remittances and super agents.
  • • Liaises with operations support teams internally and externally to ensure to ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • • Management of trust balances and ensure necessary sweeping arrangements are implemented.
  • • Reviews daily and monthly mobile money reconciliations
  • • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of mobile money transactions
  • • Prepares regulatory reports and ensure full compliance to regulatory requirements
  • • Monitors partner reimbursements and liquidations and ensure timely execution to maintain partner confidence
  • • Reviews shops float reconciliations and follows up on identified variances

4. LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
  • • Manages staff performance and skill development requirements

B. Education
  • • Degree in Accountancy or Finance
  • • Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CIMA or ACCA
  • • MBA or MBL will be an added advantage

C. Experience
  • • At least 5 years’ experience 3 of which have been in Accounting, Finance, Corporate Finance or related discipline experience at a senior management level. Experience in mobile financial services an added advantage.

D. Knowledge and Skills
  • • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Accounting Standards (IAS) are a prerequisite.
  • • Knowledge of Oracle EBS, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Anaplan are an added advantage.
  • • In-depth understanding of financial accounting disciplines
  • • Good analytical, conceptual and diagnostic skills
  • • Good coordination, communication, motivational and interpersonal skills
  • • Should have knowledge of laws applicable to financial services, their interpretation and application in a business environment.
  • • Good spreadsheet and financial modelling skills are a prerequisite.
  • • Computer literacy and proficiency including spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and business modelling tools.
  • • Good analytical, conceptual and diagnostic skills.
  • • Should have a thorough understanding of the different business functions and their interaction towards the achievement of the business objectives.
  • • High degree of professional judgment and discretion.
