Job Description:


Major Responsibilities:


Project Planning


Prepare and submit weekly and monthly work plans in a timely manner.

Mobilize communities, CBOs/FBOs (SKYE Clubs, VSLA committee) and local government for returnees / Refugees’ integration and social cohesion

 Share plans (implementation, monitoring and reporting tools) for the Project.

Develop work plans - weekly, monthly and quarterly.

Project implementation


Sensitize the community members especially youth groups and adult on the importance of association and working together for social cohesion


In collaboration with administration, establish community groups (Cooperatives) and clubs made of Refugees, repatriates and host community members

Prepare and conduct the training on project model (SKYE, VSLA, PIP) to cooperatives established

Facilitate the SKYE clubs established and trained to identify and select a project (IGA) to be implemented within their community based on the needs of community and the market linkage

Procure and equip each club with essential kits related to their IGA selected


Train the VSLA members on key agriculture technics

Procure and distribute agriculture inputs to VSLA members made of seeds and other agriculture kits

Facilitate returnees’ integration in active VSLA Groups and cooperatives at community level

Conduct close monitoring of all established VSLA and SKYE committee to raise awareness

Sensitize for zero tolerance to GBV, sexual exploitation and abus

Promote youth programming through SKYE clubs/ groups establishment and ensure they are functional 

Build capacity of SKYE group members on EWV, S4T and business plans for economic empowerment purposes. 

Support Youth Clubs  networking and initiatives

Engage youth and families to diversify smart livelihoods, including on-farm and off-farm opportunities

Develop work plans - weekly, monthly and quarterly.

Financial control and budget


Support the Grant Coordinator and Grant Finance Assistant  to review budgets and prepare financial reports, and support in the preparation of budget variances for the Grant during Field Financial Review meetings.

Adhere to budget management and activity timelines to ensure proper accountability to WV and donors and effective project implementation. Adhere to all WVB policies on procurement and financial management and report early to Supervisor as soon as any issue arises that may impact on the adherence to these policies.

Partnership and networking


Participate and represent WVIB in local donor field visits, and other technical working, experience-sharing and learning forums when applicable.

Ensure beneficiaries and all  stakeholders have access to adequate and confidentiality-sensitive complaint redress mechanism

Ensure the stakeholders and partners understand and observe strict adherence to Adult and Child Safeguarding protocols;

Organize meetings with service providers when needed. Ensure provision of feedback regarding actions taken to other agencies, when necessary and appropriate in light of confidentiality requirements.

Support the Grant Coordinator in developing and maintaining effective working relationship with stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders and service providers for prompt referral, follow up and information sharing.

Maintain a positive working relationship within the team in TC, and promote teambuilding efforts

M&E, Reporting and Documentation


Gather data, information, reports from Project implementation areas for appropriate actions.

Share timely data with the Grant Coordinator to update M&E as required. Work with the Grant Coordinator to monitor project performance in line with WVB standards and take appropriate actions.

Manage, file and store data, ensuring the confidentiality of the information collected and the services provided.

Support the effective documentation of all information related to project successes, innovations and promising practices and disseminate through appropriate mechanisms.

Support processes of project baselines and evaluation of the Project.

Regular record and update monthly activity monitoring data to support evidence based monthly report.

Lead regular planning and de/briefing meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality activities and reporting requirements.

Participate in the Cluster/APs health periodic project output & outcome monitoring processes.

Contribute to the design and implementation of assessments and evaluations to determine programme impact.

Work with the Grant Coordinator and other Cluster Level Staff to produce quality and timely reports (monthly, semi-annual and annual) using appropriate templates.

Resource Acquisition


Identify projects ideas for viable funding proposals for resource acquisitionn to support protection programme interventions.

Participate in resource mobilization through concept papers/proposal writing for fund raising and market them with support offices and other donors.

Qualifications: Education and Experience: 


Education: Must have a University degree in Agronomy, Community Development, Rural Economy or Bachelor in Community Development.

Work Experience: At least 3 years of experience in development activities including Key approaches of SKYE, VSLA and agriculture technics

Fluent in Kirundi, French and English.

Functional and Professional Competencies and Skills:


Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.

Highly motivated and result-oriented, with exceptional attention to details.

Strong facilitation and presentation skills with a passion for sharing knowledge.

Ability to discuss sensitive issues with respect, empathy, and professionalism

Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect and non-discrimination, and to prioritize the safety of beneficiaries at all times

Excellent communication skills, confident interpersonal interaction and sensitivity to other cultures.

Excellent computer skills including Microsoft office.

Demonstrated interest in humanitarian work and supporting people affected by conflict Ability to work independently, under pressure and as part of a diverse team.

Excellent organizational skills, and great attention to detail.

Ability to respond to emergencies when needed and support the protection team in providing any kind of support and in distribution of material support to IDPs when needed.

Fluent in Kirundi, French and English.

Able to drive a Motorbike with Valid License category A

Working Environment I Conditions:


Work environment: Field-based with frequent travel from the project areas.

Field work: 60%.

Travel time: 25%.
