In Burundi, UNICEF has a very diverse portfolio of responsibilities but all with the same objective which is to assist the Government and other stakeholders to fulfill children’s economic, social, cultural, political, and civil rights. The UNICEF country program in Burundi aims to improve the lives of children and women in the following key areas: Child and maternal health, Nutrition, Education, Child Protection, Water, sanitation and hygiene, Social Policy and Advocacy, Adolescent empowerment and community resilience, and Humanitarian response. https://youtu.be/ZS713LNR9TU
How can you make a difference?
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the P3, the incumbent will be responsible for monitoring all construction activities within the Country Office (including school infrastructures, health centers, etc.) and providing technical support for the effective management of construction and rehabilitation projects. The incumbent will perform the following key functions:
Preparation of construction annual workplan
Collaboration with UNICEF Programmes/Operations and coordination with Government counterparts
Preparation of design and technical documents
Support to procurement process
Monitoring of construction projects

Minimum requirements:
Education: A university degree is required in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or other relevant area.
Work Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, at the national and/or international levels, in project monitoring, site supervision, quality assurance and/or other directly related technical fields is required.
Skills: Understanding of development and humanitarian work.
Language Requirements: Fluency in French & working knowledge of English is required.
Desirables:
Emergency experience an advantage.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF.
