VACANCY POSITION AT ECONET WIRELESS
IT TECHNICAL OPERATIONS ENGINEER.
A. Key Responsibilities for a refueling driver.
1.SYSTEM OPERATIONS AND CONTROL
a. Ensure that organization wide applications and peripheral systems are working correctly through Uptime Monitoring, and Routine Checks
b. Performs user access management as per prescribed policy to ensure that system users have access that is commensurate with their job descriptions
c. Assembles, analyses, and communicates facts, evidence, and expert opinions on applications and infrastructure performance to key stakeholders.
d. Provides technical advisory services on new technology functionality and peripheral systems, in line with business objectives and user requirements.
e. Facilitates the change control process for system enhancements for approval by senior management.
f. Responsible for technical aspects of end-to-end solutions delivery, deployment, system integration, and user acceptance of the project.
g. Leads on-site troubleshooting efforts, and works with peripheral systems support teams for a quick resolution of any potential technical issue.
h. Develop and plan the near and long-term mobile money network architecture and capacity needs relating to mobile money & payment related value-added services. Perform technical feasibility studies on new emerging technologies.
i. Performs Disaster Recovery and other tests for the organizations systems and infrastructure in consultation with the system vendor(s).
2. SERVICE AND SUPPORT
a. Interfaces with vendors and internal cross functional teams to ensure on-time delivery of technical solutions, and compliance with prescribed processes through the Chief Information Officer
b. Provides 2nd line support and query resolution within agreed SLAs on matters pertaining to organization wide operations.
c. Trains Customer Service and other stakeholders on organization wide applications.
d. Reviews application operational logs in the organisation wide applications and provide reports on performance.
e. Performs analysis of all organisation wide applications processes and recommends improvements
f. Directs the maintenance and peripheral systems support activities by IS; Network Support; Systems Development and the vendor.
g. Ensure that security requirements for the organization wide ecosystem are conformed with.
3. SYSTEMS COMPLIANCE
a. Ensures that organization wide applications, operations and system performance comply with agreed service standards through conducting routine system checks.
b. Identifies security and audit points in organization wide applications and ensures all functional bugs are fixed and documentation kept.
c. Monitor organization wide applications for fraudulent activities through trend analysis.
d. Provide internal and external auditors with that data and explanations to assist in audit activities.
B. EDUCATION
- Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent.
- A Master degree in Computer Science will be an added advantage.
C. EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 2 years working experience in the IT industry with more emphasis on programming using a Relational Database Management System (RDMS)
- Knowledge of mobile financial systems with at least 2 years of hands-on operational support.
- Knowledge of at least one Systems development methodology, Objected Oriented Language i.e. C#, Java, at least one fourth generation programming language on UNIX, Windows and Linux operating system platform.
- Application Systems experience in a telecommunications environment will be an added advantage.
- Experience in IS Support is an added advantage.
- Sound Database programming skills in the following: ORACLE, SQL, MYSQL.
- Good knowledge of Windows based operating systems & UNIX.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Good interpersonal skills are important.
- A highly analytical mind is required for this position.
