Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
The successful candidate will work under the overall supervision of the Head of Programs and under the direct supervision of the MPA Program Coordinator, and in cooperation with other colleagues in MPA, at IOM Burundi and will perform the following tasks:
Responsibilities and accountability:
Assist in the day-to-day administrative operations of the MPA Unit in general and in Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) section in particular;
Assist the Unit in the production, follow-up, and management of internal administrative and financial documentation;
Ensure, in liaison with AVRR focal point & administrative assistant, that financial, logistics and administrative justification are transmitted to support services in due time and as per IOM internal processes;
Support the efficient circulation, filing and archiving of procurement, logistics and finance documentation for the MPA Unit including AVRR section;
Perform any other tasks as may be assigned.
Eligibility Requirements:
Education:
All applicants must be between 20 and 36 years of age. Applicants to IOM internships must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:
a) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
b) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
Experience:
Knowledge on humanitarian and development context in Burundi;
Proven experience in producing quality work accurately and concisely according to set deadlines;
Practical experience in how to multi-task, prioritize and work independently.
Skills:
Good level of computer literacy (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher, as well as virtual conference platforms such as Zoom);
Excellent communication skills;
Excellent attention to details;
Demonstrated organizational skills;
Ability to understand the Organization’s structure and portfolios;
Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds.
Languages:
Fluency in French and English, verbal and written, fluency in Kirundi (desirable).

The appointment is subject to funding confirmation;
Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, background check and security clearances.
