+ Project Title: Empowering Future Job Creators in Burundi


+ Objective and Overview:

The Project consultant will identify and design a university-centered empowerment program that mobilizes faculties of Agronomy, Engineering, and Computer Science —including CEPRODILIC- Village Imuhira—to equip students with the mindset, skills, and support systems necessary to become job creators in Burundi. The program will serve as a template for university leadership to follow in engaging all faculty areas of the university.

+ Period:

Starting from June 15th 2025 – September 15th 2025: 3 months

+ Reporting:

Reporting to the President and Legal Representative Assistant in charge of finances and development.

Details

Program Identification and design

• Consult with key stakeholders to identify and design a plan to Empower Future Job Creators in Burundi: Mobilizing Agronomy, Engineering, Computer Science Faculties & CEPRODILIC- Village Imuhira.

• Develop an implementation framework aligning with the project’s goal of shifting students from job-seeking to jobcreation mindsets.

• Identify and integrate entrepreneurship, innovation, and applied research components within the skills students acquire during their university education

• Recommend mechanism and projects to optimize assets and resources made available to the identifying faculties with a special emphasis on leveraging university assets and needs as example/pilot projects.

• Identify and recommend missing assets to produce job creators in the identified faculties.

Stakeholder Mobilization

• Coordinate with deans, faculty members, students, employers, ULBU and CEPRODILIC leadership to align efforts and resources.

• Facilitate partnerships with industry, incubators, Tapestry International, and government bodies to support practical learning and business acceleration.

Data collection method

Monitoring & Evaluation

• Establish targets & protocols for the faculty to implement

• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Communication & Advocacy

• Lead advocacy campaigns to promote a culture of innovation within university settings.

• Represent the project at academic, partnership, entrepreneurial, and public policy events.


+ Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Education, Business Development, Agronomy, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing university-based innovation or entrepreneurship programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in youth employment, business incubation, or academic-industry collaboration.
  • Strong facilitation, coordination, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English; knowledge of Kirundi is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Burundian higher education and innovation ecosystem preferred.
