United Nations, International Organization for Migration has a zero-tolerance against sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and sexual harassment (SH). Everyone is responsible for preventing sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), and all UN personnel must adhere to the standards of conduct that preserve PSEA principles (both during work hours and outside work hours). II. Organizational Context and Scope
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

At IOM Burundi, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit is dedicated to delivering top-notch IT resources and communication assistance for its users.

III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Senior ICT Assistant, and in cooperation with other colleagues in the Resource Management Unit, s/he will pursue the following duties:

1. Provide first-line support to end users, including direct and remote support. Help troubleshoot and ensure that all ICT-issued tickets and queries are logged and resolved appropriately in a timely manner.
2. Assist in the installation and relocation of hardware and equipment, including software installation and upgrade of users’ computers, printers, scanners and other hardware/software in line with IOM ICT standards, policy and guidelines.
3. Provide support with ICT conferencing and audiovisual equipment as and when requested.
4. Assist in monitoring physical operation of the infrastructure (LAN equipment, wireless equipment, ISP links, etc.) to ensure its continued network services.
5. Support in ICT asset management, update the ICT asset management logbook as required, organize and sort ICT assets and ICT asset disposal.
6. Assist in providing on-the-job orientation for users in the use of ICT systems and contribute to the development of training materials.
7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Eligibility requirements:
Applicants to IOM Internships must, at the time of application, meet the following requirements:

 Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) in in the areas of Information technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences, or a related field; or
 Enrolled in a graduate school program in a relevant field of study (second University degree or equivalent, or higher).
 Have graduated with a university degree in the areas of Information technology, Computer Engineering,
Computer Sciences, or a related field (if selected, the internship must commence within one year of graduation).
Applicants must be between 20 and 36 years of age.

Required experience and skills:
 Experience in operating personal computer, on-line computer terminal, printers, scanner, photocopier, and other office equipment are necessary;
 Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Skills
 Knowledge in local Area Network (LAN) and Wireless LAN.
 Knowledge in setup of computing equipment and access to LAN and Wireless LAN infrastructure.
 Practical knowledge of Microsoft 365, MS Windows, and other ICT software is an advantage.
 Excellent organization and time management skills, attention to detail, rigor and a strong sense of responsibility.
 Excellent research, writing, communication, and analytical skills
 Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
 Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
 Demonstrated ability to handle confidential data in a professional, responsible and mature manner.

Languages:
 Fluency in French and English is a distinctive advantage.

III. Training Components and Learning Elements

The Information Technology Intern will broaden her/his expertise and gain experience in:

 working in an international multicultural environment, within the United Nations system;
 ICT user support best practices;
 users’ support SOP, ICT onboarding and training, ICT knowledge management and sharing;
 practical knowledge in a professional environment along with an insight of the everyday office environment;
 development of the professional relationships with IOM colleagues in Burundi and provision of customer services;
 usage of IOM standard ticketing system for ICT support and services;
 organizational and administrative processes of IOM and the UN ecosystem within a country

VII. Languages
Fluency in French and English is a distinctive advantage.
