Organization Background:
Village Health Works (VHW) is a 501(c)(3) corporation. It is a social justice organization founded on the belief that health equity is not a commodity but a right. Currently VHW operates in a wide array of clinical and community programs in a catchment area of over 200,000 people within the provinces of Rumonge and Bururi, though its doors are open for every patient regardless of where that patient is coming from. Our first clinic attends over 51,000 outpatient consultations per year. Since 2007 until summer 2023, our 60-bed inpatient wards have been providing basic adult and pediatric non-operative inpatient services including treatment of malnutrition, mental health, chronic and acute diseases and uncomplicated obstetrical deliveries. These services have been administered by our staff of generalist physicians under the supervision of our current Medical Director.
Village Health Works has embarked on a plan to expand our clinical services to provide comprehensive quality medical care and training. To achieve this goal, VHW has constructed and officially opened an 85,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art teaching hospital with several services that include surgery, obstetric deliveries, intensive care, pediatrics and neonatology, emergency, pathology lab, medical education and research center, etc.To provide excellent patient care and training we must expand the scope and skills of the healthcare providers through training, teaching and research, hiring through rigorous development and implementation of systems and structures, policies and procedures that are framed by high quality norms and international standards.
Additionally, VHW has established the Kigutu International Academy, a grade 9-12 boarding school to equip young minds with an education based on critical thinking to prepare them to become the leaders we wish their country and the continent to have for a better future.

Position Overview:
A Systems Administrator (Business Applications) is responsible for managing and maintaining critical business applications and software systems within an organization. This role ensures
that these applications are operating efficiently, securely, and are meeting the needs of the business and its users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Deployment and Configuration:
- Install, configure, and maintain business-critical applications and software systems, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and other business-specific applications.
- Collaborate with application vendors and internal teams to optimize application settings and configurations.
- System Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
- Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system resources to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
- Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to keep applications secure and upto-date.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve application-related issues and errors promptly.
- Coordinate with end-users and support teams to diagnose and address problems, providing technical support and guidance.
- Data Management and Integration:
- Manage data within business applications, including data imports, exports, and integration with other systems.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security in accordance with organizational requirements.
- Security and Access Control:
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive business data within applications.
- Manage user access and permissions to ensure data confidentiality and compliance with security policies.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery:
- Establish and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for business applications to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Documentation and Training:
- Create and maintain documentation for application configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide training and support to end-users and colleagues on using business applications effectively.
- Collaboration and Vendor Management:
- Collaborate with software vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and implement updates.
- Evaluate and recommend new software solutions or enhancements based on business needs.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field is often preferred.
- Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or certifications related to specific business applications, may be beneficial.
- Experience:
- Typically, 3-5 years of experience in system administration, with a focus on business applications, is desirable.
- Experience with specific business applications used within the industry or organization is highly valuable.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting business applications, including ERP and CRM systems.
- Knowledge of database management, SQL, and data integration techniques.
- Familiarity with cloud-based applications and SaaS solutions.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with end-users and vendors.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data security and integrity.
