For every child, Hygiene

The WASH Specialist reports to the Chief of WASH (P4) for guidance and general supervision but will be working very closely with other colleagues in the office including Chief of Sections from other programmatic areas. The Specialist supports the development, preparation, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of WASH activities of the whole country programme. S/he is in charge of the Output 2 (Water Supply) of the WASH Outcome, supervises one NO-B colleague, and contributes significantly to the activities under the WASH-Output 3 (Enabling Environment).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…


Education:

An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: engineering, public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field.

A first University degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University degree.

     Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are a strong asset.


Experience: 

DEVELOPMENTAL: With a Master’s degree, a minimum of five years of professional experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required. With a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required.

HUMANITARIAN: At least one three-month deployment mission in a humanitarian situation (with UN-Govt-INGO) is required.

Language Requirements: Fluency in French and working knowledge in English is required.  Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.


Computer skills: Word, Excel and Power Point.
