VACANCY – APPLICATION SUPPORT TECHNICIAN-ROAMING

Key Responsibilities

SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION

• Manages lifecycle of applications, including installations, maintenance, and decommissioning
• Supports the service transition team (including document reviews) during release management and new service introductions
• Documents all project activities, including but not limited to all new system development documents, change management documents, new project/innovation proposals and technical specifications.

SYSTEM SUPPORT, MAINTENANCE, AND SECURITY

• Performs administration routine on all business systems, enforces and ensures adherence to IS policies, procedures and standards.
• Provides consultative services and specialised expertise in technical application areas to user groups and IS management.
• Provides Tier 2 support to the Help desk in day-to-day end user assistance and event management including incident troubleshooting and resolution
• Establishes secure and stable IS infrastructure that guarantees high system availability on all VAS, Billing and Billing Support Systems
• Interact with various internal IT support functions, Development, Operations, QA and external 3rd party vendors to trouble shoot and resolve complex problems
• Establishes a reliable Disaster Recovery Plan and resources to eliminate loss of revenue due to system or data loss
• Evaluates problem areas and initiates corrective measures to improve performance, reliability, security and integrity of application systems.
• Performs periodic audit of Developed Systems, applications and infrastructure so as to maintain security, and prevent/detect fraud.
• Implements training and development plans
• Works closely with DBA function to ensure availability and performance of essential database services within application infrastructure
• Ensure that adequate feedback is provided to superiors on all relevant matters

Education

• Diploma/Degree in a relevant computer discipline
• Membership of a recognized Professional Institution e.g. Microsoft, Cisco and UNIX will be an added advantage.

Experience 

• At least 1 -3 years working experience in IT with emphasis on programming using a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) and systems analysis and design of at least one recognised VAS System, financial system including installation maintenance and support.
• Extensive knowledge of GSM technologies and integration of GSM network systems.
• Possess strong Project Management Skills.
• Extensive knowledge of Billing, receipting and accounting packages, and RDBMSs
• Knowledge of at least one Systems development methodology, Objected Oriented Language i.e. C#, Java, at least one fourth generation programming language on UNIX, Windows and Linux operating system platform.
• Database administration skills i.e. use of Structured Query Language (SQL)
